Tell us about how you met and all about the proposal: We met at a baby shower for mutual friends in the winter of 2013 and went on our first date in 2014, bringing us on this wonderful path to marriage.
For the Proposal Jeff took Zee to Los Angeles in celebration of another semester finished with school. Little did she know my real reason was to propose. Jeff planned to propose to Zee, with a hidden photographer/videographer/and live band in on the surprise.
Everything was planned out and the timing was set. All that needed to happen was for the couple to make it to the LA Rooftop for a nice evening "randomly" planned.
Unfortunately Zee fell fast asleep right after dinner downtown.
Jeff finally proposed while in an intimate setting atop the Malibu Mountains overlooking the mountains land and the pacific ocean. While at a rest area of the mountain, sitting in the car, Jeff asked Zee if she'd like to continue on the journey through the mountain. Due to her fear of heights she was hesitant but said she would continue as long as she could ride in the backseat, so she could put her head down. Unknown to her, the ring was in one of the bags in the back. This was the moment God made and it was time to strike. Jeff went to "clear" the backseat, and put the ring box in his hand as he cleared the backseat. Jeff went to open the front Passenger door to guide Zee to the back seat, however as he opened her door he got on one knee. Jeff said, Zee, "I'm so happy you want to go through this journey through the mountain with me, but I really want to know if you will go on this journey through life with me as my wife. Will you marry me?"
The engagement session: Describe your engagement session. Did you have a theme?
The engagement session was a lot of fun. Brianna made us feel very comfortable throughout the session. We had never had a photo shoot as a couple before so we were very excited and somewhat nervous. The two of us love color and wanted to have a classy shoot that had bold color and style. Along with being our first photo shoot, it was our first visit to the Dallas Arboretum, which is an amazingly beautiful place. Being that it is Texas, it was definitely hot out even though it was an early shoot. Brianna really connected with us individually and as a couple and knew that Zee is where all the beauty lies, and Jeff is just a prop for this photo shoot. :-) She knew the angles and perspectives that Zee wanted and produced fantastic photos.
What did you do on your first date?
Our first date was on a Sunday night at a reggae lounge in Houston. It was a last minute thing and not planned well in advance, so a spur of the moment conversation about music turned into a date with food, drinks, dancing and a reggae band..
What are your favorite things to do as a couple?
Eat!!! Listen to music. Cook...well Zee cook and tell Jeff what to do. Travel. Joke with loved ones.
How has wedding planning been so far?
Stressful. African weddings are large and need much planning to manage the size as well as the African and Western wedding traditions.
Tell us what you're looking forward to most on the wedding day.
Jeff: I'm looking forward to seeing my beautiful wife in her dress knowing that she is the most beautiful woman on the Earth. I cannot wait until I first see her walk down the aisle at the ceremony for the first time. I'm looking forward to being introduced to the world as Mr. and Mrs. Kusi-Mensah.
Zee: I'm looking forward to seeing my wonderful husband to be looking into my eyes vowing his love and me letting the world know how much he means to me. I cannot wait until he takes my hand no longer as boyfriend, no longer as fiance, but as husband. I am looking forward to all the family and friends that are in support of us blessing us with their presence that weekend.
